Troy University quarterback Gunnar Watson leaves with injury vs. Coastal Carolina football

The Troy University football team lost its starting quarterback Gunnar Watson in the fourth quarter.

Watson was hit by Coastal Carolina linebacker Teddy Gallagher on a pass with 8:45 left in the fourth quarter. Watson lost his helmet on the hit.

Watson received medical attention and left the game. He was replaced by backup quarterback Jacob Free, and Free stayed in for the rest of the game.

Coastal Carolina led 28-23 at the time Watson left the game, and Coastal Carolina defeated Troy 42-38.

Before he left the game, Watson went 25-for-37 passing with 260 yards and one passing touchdown.
