Troy Trojans take aim at Heisman contender

TROY — Jalen Jones faces massive expectations this week from within the Troy football program.

Not bad for a junior college transfer quarterback who won’t play a snap this season.

With the Trojans playing at No. 2 Clemson on Saturday, Jones has the role of a lifetime. Or at least the role of the week.

He’ll be the scout-team quarterback, wear No. 4 and imitate — though not likely duplicate — Clemson Heisman Trophy candidate Deshaun Watson.

“We’re going to need him,” Troy defensive end Rashad Dillard said of Jones. “Jalen can run. Actually, Jalen is probably one of the fastest people on the team.
