Troy Trojans set for homecoming battle with Georgia State

After all, no one wants to lose homecoming when many alumni return to campus.

With several teams playing five-game home schedules, fewer options exist for homecoming opponents. Conference rivals emerge as the primary option, and at Troy, that is certainly the case.

For the eighth consecutive year, the Trojans (4-1 overall, 2-0 Sun Belt Conference) will battle a conference foe for homecoming as they take on Georgia State at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Veterans Memorial Stadium.

The last time Troy faced a non-conference opponent for homecoming came in 2008 when it faced Western Kentucky, and even that deserves an asterisk since the Hilltoppers were in the multi-year process of joining the FBS level and the Sun Belt at the time.
