TROY – With 12 minutes to go in a game with Georgia Southern Monday, Troy led by 22 points. The Trojans, however, would ultimately need clutch plays to hold off the Eagles.
Senior Jeremy Hollimon hit a layup to beat the shot-clock buzzer and give Troy some breathing room, and the Trojans hit enough free throws down the stretch to secure an 83-76 victory. Seven of Troy’s nine Sun Belt Conference games have been decided by seven points or fewer.
“We’ve been in this position before, and I think that past helped us,” Troy senior forward DeVon Walker said.
