Troy softball team set to open season with home tournament

Troy returns four of its top five home run hitters from 2015 – a squad that belted 21 more homers than the 2014 team. The Trojans’ average of almost a homer per game (51 in 55 contests) was good enough to finish in the top 25 percent of all Division I teams last year.

Coupled with the return of three of its top four hitters for average, it could be an even stronger year at the plate for Troy softball.

“We’re more experienced than we were last year, so our expectations are higher,” said Trojans second-year head coach Beth Mullins.
