Troy signs 14 football players on Day 1 of early signing period

The Troy football program took full advantage of the NCAA's new early signing period and inked 14 players to a National Letter of Intent on Wednesday.

Head coach Neal Brown and his staff landed nine players from the state of Alabama along with five junior college transfers.

Troy, which finished the year 11-2 with a New Orleans Bowl title, focused heavily in the trenches with four offensive linemen and five defensive linemen signed during the early period. The Trojans added single players at quarterback, running back, linebacker, cornerback and safety.

The Trojans' top-rated defense added elite talent in KJ Robertson from Thompson High School, the Alabama MVP at the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game, and one of the top defensive ends in the junior college ranks in Jarvis Hayes.
