TROY, Alabama – Leanna Johnson dazzled in the circle pitching her fourth shutout of the season to power Troy past North Alabama, 2-0, in a midweek in-state showdown Wednesday afternoon at the Troy Softball Complex.
Johnson (14-5), backed by the Trojan defense, scattered two hits and recorded four strikeouts to earn her fourth shutout win of the season. North Alabama's (15-10) only two base runners of the game came from hits in the second and fifth inning.
"I thought we had really good pitching and defense today," head coach Beth Mullins said. "Leanna did a great job of spinning the ball and hitting spots, and we made some good plays behind her.
