TROY – Wesley Person hit two 3-pointers in the final 66 seconds of regulation, Javan Johnson blocked a potential game-winning layup to force overtime and the Troy Trojans pulled away to an 89-83 victory over Arkansas State at Trojan Arena on Thursday night.
Troy (11-13, 5-6 Sun Belt) scored the first nine points of overtime and “stole” the victory over the Red Wolves (9-16, 4-8), coach Phil Cunningham said.
“I’m still not sure how we won it, but we found a way,” Cunningham said. “Just really pleased with our guys because they never gave up. Showed a lot of toughness down the stretch when everybody in the arena thought the game was over.
