TROY, Alabama – The Troy women's basketball team knocked of the preseason rust with an 88-71 victory over West Florida on Thursday in Trojan Arena.
In typical fashion, the Trojans pushed the floor and applied pressure throughout the game punishing the Argonauts for 31 points off 28 turnovers. Last season, Troy forced 20-plus turnovers 18 times.
Troy built up double digit leads several times, but West Florida, on the back of Toni Brewer's game-best 33 points, continued to fight back into the contest. The Argonauts took a 33-32 lead with 5:21 remaining in the second quarter just to watch the Trojans finish the half on 12-2 run.
