TROY, Ala. – Troy secured a big road win on Saturday in its pursuit of a berth in the inaugural Sun Belt Championship Game and a pair of Trojans are reaping the rewards from their performances against Georgia Southern with Sun Belt Player of the Week honors on Monday.
Defensive end Antione Barker was named the Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week and Tyler Sumpter earned his third Sun Belt Special Teams Player of the Week honor and second in a row.
Barker, a native of Pensacola, Fla., finished with a pair of sacks and three tackles for a loss as he led a bruising Troy defense that stymied Georgia Southern's high-powered option attack all day; Barker just missed a third sack by a half yard.
