Troy overcomes sluggish start to wallop Idaho

Troy wide receiver Emanuel Thompson (8) leaps high in the air for a touchdown reception late in the first quarter Saturday against Idaho. Thompson and the Trojans rolled to a 34-13 win over the Vandals.

Troy had three turnovers – one on a last-ditch pass to end the half – and committed several penalties but managed to erase those mistakes in building a 21-6 halftime lead.

“Our guys, I thought, did a nice job the entire game of overcoming adversity,” Trojans head coach Neal Brown said. “That goes back to our offseason program and putting our guys in some tough positions because I thought that was a weakness last year.
