In Troy’s 52-6 win over New Mexico State Saturday, Frye blocked a punt that resulted in a touchdown and returned a kickoff for another score. Those plays follow the freshman’s 66-yard touchdown run against then-No. 2 Clemson that helped the Trojans stay within striking distance of last season’s national runner-up.
Because of Frye’s efforts, the Trojans registered two special teams touchdowns in a game for the first time since they joined the FBS level in 2001.
Cain brings pain: After Frye’s blocked punt, Troy linebacker Demetrius Cain returned the loose ball 15 yards for a touchdown.
