Against Southern Miss, Dillard became the first Troy defensive lineman to intercept a pass since Tony Davis did so against Bowling Green on Sept. 4, 2010. The interception happened deep in Golden Eagles’ territory and set up an 11-yard touchdown pass from Brandon Silvers to Andre Flakes that put Troy up 24-10 with 9:09 left in the second quarter.
Dillard, who plays rush defensive end, said it was his first career interception.
“It was a scramble. I came underneath, retraced my steps,” Dillard said. “He threw the ball up, and I put my hands up.
