Brian Ross hasn’t missed a Troy football game this decade, so he anticipated a day would come when a bigger school would hire Neal Brown away.
After a stunning, unprecedented run as the Trojans head coach, West Virginia of the Big 12 Conference officially announced Neal Brown as its new head coach. Brown has signed a six-year agreement worth $19.050 million – an average of $3.175 million per year, according to a West Virginia release.
Brown made $810,000, excluding bonuses, as Troy’s head coach this past season, according to a USA Today database of coaching salaries.
Several Troy fans expressed sadness about the move, but like Ross, understood the move was inevitable.
