TROY, Ala. – Despite a seventh-inning rally, Troy fell just short, 2-1, to Georgia Southern in game two of the series Saturday at Eagle Field.
Down a pair of scores heading into the final frame, Troy (19-9, 5-3 Sun Belt) evaded the shutout with a double off the bat of pinch hitter to plate its lone run of the ball game.
Both sides remained quiet at the plate until Georgia Southern (8-16, 3-5 Sun Belt) struck first in the bottom of the fourth inning when Ashlynn Gunter scored Shelby Barfield with a single.
(5-3) evaded any more damage in the bottom of the fifth, fanning Olivia Creamer in a bases-loaded situation.
