TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Troy Softball team went toe-for-toe with one of the top teams in the nation before defensive miscues allowed tournament host No. 3 Alabama to plate the two runs necessary to take the Sunday finale from Troy, 2-0, Sunday at Rhoads Stadium.
Alabama (14-0) hopped on the board first in the bottom of the opening frame using a passed ball and a wild pitch to score Alexis Mack, who led off with a single.
However, Leanna Johnson (7-2) picked up right where she left off, retiring the Tide in back-to-back frames to send the game into the fourth.
