Stephen Calvert hit B.J. Farrow with a 9-yard touchdown pass with 2:23 to play as Liberty stunned Troy 22-16 on Saturday at Williams Stadium in Lynchburg, Va.
The loss snapped a five-game winning streak for Troy (5-2), which lost starting quarterback Kaleb Barker to a season-ending knee injury last week. Liberty (3-3) is a transitional Division I program that won't play a full FBS schedule until 2019.
Troy trailed 14-10 at halftime, but took a 16-14 lead on a pair of Tyler Sumpter field goals, the last a 26-yarder with 12:48 to play. The Flames' winning drive went 89 yards, including third-down conversions on passes by Calvert of 27 yards to Fidel Ogbeifun, 15 yards to Farrow and 7 yards to Farrow.
