TROY, Ala. – A trio of timely hits proved to be enough as Troy downed South Alabama, 3-2, to open the series Thursday at the Troy Softball Complex.
The Trojans (28-18, 14-11 Sun Belt) utilized a pair of home runs and an RBI single to plate the runs necessary to down South Alabama (23-18, 15-5 Sun Belt).
kickstarted the scoring in the home half of the first, sending the second pitch she saw off of Jaguar ace Olivia Lackie (13-7) over the center-field wall.
After working through trouble in the top of the first, (19-10) worked around just a single and two walks to hold South Alabama scoreless through the fourth frame.
