TROY, Alabama – Levi Thomas tossed eight stellar innings as Troy earned an 8-2 win in the Sun Belt series opener against Appalachian State at Riddle-Pace Field on Thursday.
Thomas (4-2) struck out six batters allowing two runs on four hits to earn the victory. The sophomore didn't allow a hit until the fourth inning, didn't allow a runner to advance past first in seven of his eight innings, and retired the side in five frames.
Troy (20-18, 8-8 SBC) jumped out to an early lead when Appalachian State starter Will Sprinkle was called for a balk with runners on the corners.
