“No. 1 thing is we’ve got to play hard. Defense is played with effort and emotion, and we have to play hard,” Koenning said Thursday. “We’ll play hard if we play with enthusiasm, if our leaders lead. We’ve got enough seniors that if they’ll quit feeling sorry for themselves and quit worrying about what’s going on now instead of what’s in the future, then we’ll be fine.”
Koenning said that even applies to positions where the Trojans possess quality depth, like bandit and the linebackers.
“We’re not very consistent (at bandit) right now. We’re not playing hard enough,” he said.
