TROY – Troy again struggled after building a large lead against a Sun Belt Conference foe Saturday, but a strong second half ensured better results at home.
The Trojans watched a 21-0 lead dwindle to seven against Coastal Carolina, but two third-quarter touchdowns sealed a 45-21 victory against the Chanticleers at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
Last week, Troy (4-1 overall, 2-0 Sun Belt) possessed a 35-7 halftime lead on the road at Louisiana-Monroe, but the Warhawks cut the lead to 35-27 before an interception from Marcus Jones secured the victory.
“We had a nice little discussion at halftime with both phases,” Trojans head coach Neal Brown said of Saturday’s second half surge.
