TROY, Alabama – The Troy football team took another step towards its season opener as the Trojans strapped on shoulder pads for the first time of fall camp in Thursday's two-hour workout on the grass practice fields behind Trojan Arena.
The Trojans worked in extra breaks as they battled the hot and humid Alabama morning. The team will shift gears the next two days as they will practice in the afternoon both Friday (2:45 p.m.) and Saturday (4:15 p.m.).
Troy opens the 2016 season on Sept. 3 when it plays host to Austin Peay in the first of six home games in Veterans Memorial Stadium.
