TROY, Ala. – Troy baseball completed the installation of the high-tech, data-driven TrackMan system to Riddle-Pace Field, head coach Mark Smartt announced Thursday afternoon. Troy is the second team in the Sun Belt to invest in the industry-leading technology, which captures the most comprehensive and accurate ball-tracking data during the game.
TrackMan employs 3D Doppler radar to measure an upwards of total of 27 total pitching and hitting data points. On the mound, pitchers are able to track spin rate, release angle, tilt, and vertical and horizontal break and more. The technology will also be a useful tool for Trojan hitters, capturing data points such as exit speed, launch angle, distance, hang time, point of impact and more.
