From the moment Appalachian State took Penn State into overtime and Troy won at Nebraska, the Mountaineers and Trojans have been on a collision course.
The two Sun Belt Conference teams meet Saturday in Boone, N.C., with a lot on the line. The winner captures the East Division and will host the league’s inaugural championship game next Saturday against the West winner, which also hasn’t been determined.
This is one of only four games in the country this weekend where both teams have two or fewer losses. The others are Michigan-Ohio State, Oklahoma-West Virginia and Utah State-Boise State.
