TROY, Alabama – Troy and Akron will meet on the football field in 2017 and 2019, both schools announced Tuesday morning. Troy will play host to Akron on Sept. 16, 2017, in Veterans Memorial Stadium, while the Trojans will make the return trip in 2019. Additionally, Troy will also travel to Missouri in 2019.
"It is important for our football program and our fan base to have six home games every year at a minimum," Troy Athletics Director Jeremy McClain said. "With NC State having to move our game next season, this is a great series for us against a Group of Five opponent.
