Troy AD: After Brown set ‘high bar,’ interest high in coaching opening

Troy athletic director Jeremy McClain, barely 24 hours after reports said his football coach was leaving and five hours after West Virginia announced the hire, was having trouble keeping his phone charged.

He said Saturday that the amount of interest in the opening has been both impressive and shows how well departing coach Neal Brown has done with the Trojans.

“We hate to lose him, and I’m so thankful for what he did here,” McClain said. “He set a high bar.”

McClain said he had already started vetting candidates, but there was “no firm timeline” as to when Troy might have a new coach.
