TROY – Once again, the Troy Trojans are going bowling against a somewhat familiar opponent.
The Troy football program accepted a bid to the R&L Carriers New Orleans Bowl Sunday and will face an old Sun Belt Conference foe in the contest: North Texas.
Last year, the Trojans snapped a six-year bowl drought with a 28-23 victory over Ohio, which they faced in the 2010 New Orleans Bowl.
The Trojans are 8-2 all-time against North Texas, though they have not played since the Mean Green’s last year in the Sun Belt (2012).
Still, there is a lot of familiarity between the Trojans (10-2), Sun Belt co-champions, and North Texas – Conference USA’s Western division champions.
