It was some sleep he caught up on earlier in the week that cost the junior guard his starting job for the game.
“He overslept for a meeting,” Troy coach Phil Cunningham said after the game. “He had a tough schedule yesterday (Tuesday). He took a final exam at 8. We practiced at 11. We came back and practiced again at 4:30 and he just simply overslept.
“We have rules. If anybody ever deserves a mulligan it’s him, but we just couldn’t do it. He’s never done anything out of line.”
Person responded well, coming off the bench after the first timeout of the game and knocking down a 3-pointer on his first shot en route to scoring 13 in the first half as the Trojans built a dominating 69-26 lead by intermission.
