CONWAY, S.C. – Troy clinched its first series win over Coastal Carolina since 2007 and its first-ever in Conway with a 9-7 victory Saturday afternoon at Spring Brooks Stadium. Nine Trojans hit safely while seven logged a multi-hit outing as Troy prevailed in a contest that lasted nearly four hours.
Troy raced out to an 8-0 lead before the Chants chipped away and pulled within 8-7 after eight innings. The Trojans plated a crucial insurance run in the ninth just before Marquez Oates retired the Chants in order to end the game.
The Trojan bats exploded for 17 hits, one shy of a season high, paced by three off the bat of Jesse Hall.
