If anyone had reason to beg off Troy’s Trojan Tour stop in Dothan Tuesday night, it’s baseball coach Mark Smartt.
But there he was, shaking hands and getting his back slapped at a packed Buffalo Wild Wings as his team prepares for a trip to Athens, Ga., and its first NCAA Regional appearance since 2013.
“There are some other things I could be doing, but I wanted to be here tonight,” Smartt said before the event kicked off. “So many people in Dothan have been really supportive of me personally – not only our baseball program, but me personally – and it’s a place that it’s important for me to be at.
