Fourteen years and a coaching regime have passed since the Troy Trojans last made the NCAA Tournament, but one person unites the different eras.
Longtime Troy assistant basketball coach Ben Fletcher was a guard in 2003 when the Trojans claimed the Atlantic Sun title, earning the program’s first bid into the Big Dance. Now as Troy (22-14) gears up for its second appearance, facing Duke at 6:20 p.m. Friday, Fletcher has an opportunity to reiterate his experiences and offer some advice to the current Trojans squad.
“First of all, I’m just so happy for the guys,” he said Tuesday.
