The 2016 sports year in the Wiregrass had a little bit of it all.
The most notable accomplishments from a Wiregrass native came from Dothan’s Kasey Cooper, who had a record-setting year for the Auburn University softball team.
Cooper, who starred at Dothan High school during her prep days, led the Tigers to the decisive game of the best-of-three series of the Women’s College World Series championship before losing to Oklahoma 2-1.
