MOBILE — Damion Willis was at midfield when his Troy teammates entered the field.
He stood there as they sprinted past, on their way to a pregame greeting with the 18 busloads of Troy students that were on hand at Ladd-Peebles Stadium.
It wasn’t long before Willis was doing some sprinting himself.
Willis broke free from what had been a steady season with 132 yards receiving and two touchdowns in the Trojans’ 38-17 win over South Alabama.
“Ballplayer,” defensive end Hunter Reese surmised. “He’ll go up and get it.”
With the Trojans (6-2, 4-0 Sun Belt) looking to go deep early and often, Willis was easily the beneficiary.
