For conference baseball tournaments being held in the state of Alabama this week, the weather has been teams' toughest opponent.
The Sun Belt Conference had most of the second day of its tournament at Riverwalk Stadium in Montgomery on Wednesday washed out, leading to the conference's decision to shift the tournament from a double- elimination format to single.
More inclement weather is anticipated Thursday as well, cutting into the confidence the Sun Belt had in getting all of the contests in through the championship game by Sunday afternoon, the cut for an automatic qualifier deadline set by the NCAA.
