On the women’s side, defending champions South Alabama – under the direction of head coach David Barnett – will look to repeat as Sun Belt champions for the second time in school history and the first time since 1992-93. South Alabama claimed the win at last year’s meet by a 20-point margin after finishing with 46 total points on the 5K course at the Nash Farm Battlefield in Atlanta, Ga.
The Jaguars were narrowly picked to win the title for this year’s race as they finished first in the preseason poll, just three points ahead of second-place Coastal Carolina and six points ahead of third-place Appalachian State.
