MONTGOMERY, Ala. – A strong fifth inning propelled Troy to a 7-3 win over Alabama State in its first fall game Friday night at Wheeler-Watkins Baseball Complex. Trojan pitchers combined four 17 strikeouts in the 12-inning game.
Levi Thomas got the start on the mound for the Trojans, striking out six batters in four innings while only giving up one hit. Orlando Ortiz-Mayr showed impressive stuff on the mound as well, tossing three perfect innings and striking out seven of the nine batters he faced.
The Trojans got on the board in the third inning after Kyle Mock drove in Hunter Mercer for Troy's first run of the game.
