'Steal of the Day?' McGill-Toolen star LB Carlton Martial headed to Troy

McGill-Toolen coach Caleb Ross thinks Troy may have pulled off one of the steals of National Signing Day on Wednesday.

Neil Brown and the Trojans' staff convinced two-time AL.com Coastal Alabama Defensive MVP Carlton Martial to accept a preferred walk-on.

The two-time all-state linebacker, a one-time Alabama A&M commitment, also had offers to Alcorn State and North Alabama among other schools. Many thought he would follow older brother Philbert and play for UNA.

Instead, he is headed to Troy.

"I decided last night," Martial said. "I talked to my parents and just feel like Troy is the right place for me.
