Special teams fuel Troy homecoming win

True freshman running back B.J. Smith recovered an onside kick, Troy scored a touchdown three plays later and coasted to a 31-21 victory over the Georgia State Panthers at Veterans Memorial Stadium.

“We knew coming in we thought that was something we could get, and (assistant coach Jon Sumrall) suggested it,” Trojans head coach Neal Brown said of the kick. “We needed one big play to get us over the hump, and that play was on special teams.
