Smith, Troy bounce back with 38-17 win over rival South Alabama

Troy quarterback Sawyer Smith certainly earned those Conor McGregor-like struts he flashed during the Trojans’ 38-17 victory over rival South Alabama on Tuesday night in Mobile.

Smith used the game as part-homecoming, part-coming out party to make his second collegiate start one to remember.

Certainly, it’s a team game and this was a team victory. Troy got a fourth consecutive 100-yard rushing performance from B.J. Smith and a five-catch, 132-yard, two-touchdown night from receiver Damion Willis on offense. Defensively, Marcus Jones, Cedarius Rookard and Terence Dunlap each had an interception and the Trojans shut out the Jaguars in the second half.
