TROY, Alabama – Senior forward Sky'Lynn Holmes has been named Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Year, the league announced on Monday. She was also named Second Team All-Sun Belt Conference.
Holmes finished the regular season second in the league averaging 9.4 rebounds per game, fifth with 1.0 blocks per game and seventh with 1.8 steals per game. She hauled in double-digit rebounds in 14 games, including 20 against Louisiana on Jan. 26.
The Mount Pleasant, Texas, native averaged 8.0 points for the Trojans and shot 42.6 percent from the field. Holmes led the conference and was 15thin the country with 4.
