TROY — Sim Byrd, you have another Troy quarterback to meet.
Kaleb Barker, the latest to tie one of Byrd’s longstanding school records, looks forward to the day when he can shake Sim’s hand and both can tell their stories to the other.
“I’ve obviously heard a lot about him,” Barker said. “He had to have been a good player to win a national championship. I’d be honored to meet him.”
It’s been a longtime mission of Troy offenses to reach the records Byrd and the Troy State Red Wave set in 1968’s NAIA championship season.
