Bryant, a 6-foot, 296-pound senior from Pensacola, learned last Monday that he would start at nose guard for the injured Trevon Sanders.
“It was a pretty exciting time for me,” the walk-on said.
He’d paid his dues – and paid his way – and he knew enough about how things can change that he didn’t call his folks to share the news about his first collegiate start.
“I had to make sure nothing happened (to the plan),” said Bryant, who said his week of preparation was fairly normal. “I really didn’t go about it too much different because you’re always supposed to be ready.
