TROY, Alabama – Troy senior kicker Ryan Kay was named the Sun Belt Conference Special Teams Player of the Week and was named a Lou Groza Star of the Week following his career-performance in Troy's victory at Southern Miss this past Saturday.
During the fourth quarter of a 34-31 game, Kay booted a 43-yard field goal to ensure that Southern Miss needed a late go-ahead touchdown to get the win.
The Jonesboro, Ga., native also hit field goals from 42 and 39 yards out, while going 4-for-4 on extra point attempts, scoring a total of 13 points in the first Troy win against Southern Miss.
