Ramsey Rigby transferring to Gardner-Webb

“Ramsey’s not a fit for what they do,” Ed Rigby, Elba High’s title-winning coach, said of Troy. “It’s a Tony Franklin system where they throw every down. While he threw for 2,200 yards (in 2015) and had a high school completion percentage of 70 percent, he doesn’t fit that. He needs a more option-based offense.”

Gardner-Webb, an FCS school in Boiling Spring, N.C., certainly may be a better fit for Rigby. The Runnin’ Bulldogs’ leading rusher last year, Tyrell Maxwell, was also Gardner-Webb’s leading passer. Maxwell rushed for 715 yards – 514 more than the next Bulldog – while throwing for 910 yards in nine games.
