The UL women’s basketball team’s bid to win the Sun Belt Conference’s automatic NCAA Tournament berth hit a roadblock Monday.
The Ragin’ Cajuns lost 73-65 to Troy in the ESPNU-televised Sun Belt Tournament championship game in Pensacola, Florida.
UL trimmed a 15-point halftime deficit to three in the fourth quarter behind a Brandi Williams bucket that capped a 10-1 run, but the Cajuns never could take the lead the second half. They were down 66-63 with less than a minute left, but four Cajuns missed shots before Troy sealed it at the free throw line.
