The UL women’s basketball team’s bid to win the Sun Belt Conference’s automatic NCAA Tournament berth ended Monday.
The Ragin’ Cajuns lost 73-65 to Troy in the Sun Belt Tournament championship game in Pensacola, Florida.
UL trimmed a 15-point halftime deficit to three in the fourth quarter behind a Brandi Williams bucket that capped a 10-1 run, but the Cajuns never could take the second-half lead. They were down 66-63 late, but four Cajuns missed shots before Troy sealed it at the free-throw line.
