Watson had a 1-yard TD pass to Christian Wilkins and a 23-yarder to Deon Cain to make it 27-10.
Troy scored on a 2-yard pass from Brandon Silvers to Deondre Douglas with 5 minutes to play, but Clemson answered with a 34-yard field goal from Greg Huegel with 2 1/2 minutes left.
