KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – Elisabeth Preus shot a 1-under 71, including an eagle on a par-4, to lead Troy to a fourth-place standing following Sunday's opening round of the Palmetto Intercollegiate at the Kiawah Island Golf and Country Club.
Preus' 71 was her second straight round under par coming off a third-place finish earlier this week at the Chris Banister Golf Classic. In addition to the eagle, Preus birdied a pair of par-5 holes, and she is tied for eighth place overall.
Troy is eight shots back of North Florida on the team leaderboard, and the Trojans are just two shots back of College of Charleston and Fresno State for second.
