BOONE, N.C. — Tears streamed down a few faces as the Troy Trojans left the field, a mass of black and gold behind them celebrating a divisional championship.
There was little left to do but mourn.
Troy, following a 21-10 loss to Appalachian State on Saturday at Kidd Brewer Stadium, won’t have a Sun Belt Conference championship as a possibility this season.
The Trojans, after the glories of last year’s league title, will have a week to simmer while awaiting their postseason fate.
