AWENDAW, South Carolina – The No. 53 Troy men's golf team shot a 9-over 297 on the opening day of the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate on Sunday. The Trojans sit in 12th place following the first of three rounds, but are just eight shots back of the top five.
Freshman Calum Masters and junior Clayton Vannoy led the Trojans with a 1-over 73 and the pair are tied for 30th. Vannoy made the turn at 4-over, but rebounded nicely on the back nine with three birdies over his first four holes after making the turn.
